Work continues on the track replacement programme between Bandstand and Wakebridge and our Permanent Way Team are hard at work, staff members during the week and volunteers over the weekend.
All the track to be replaced has been lifted and the old track bed and ballast has been removed.

The next stage is to provide a firm track-bed.

A liner is unrolled over the track bed as the base ballast is applied then subsequently levelled.

The team are already starting to put the sleepers in place which will eventually carry the replacement rail.

There is still plenty of work to be done before the track-laying is complete and we are still looking for suitable volunteers for this or any other of our teams.

You might consider coming to one of our working weekends, which involves a whole range of maintenance activities. Contact us by email on: volunteering@tramway.co.uk
