Research Services

Members of the Curatorial Team are available to assist with providing access to the wealth of information contained within the John Price Memorial Library. We can assist with simple enquiries via post and email. For more in depth research enquiries we would recommend making an appointment to visit the Library’s Reading Room.

The Reading Room

The Reading Room is based on the ground floor of the Library building, and can be used by anyone wishing to undertake their own research using material from the collections. To help better facilitate your visit, we would recommend looking at our online catalogue to identify any resources you would like to have prepared ready for use during your visit.

Opening Times

The Reading Room is normally open by appointment only, Monday – Friday, 9.30am – 4.30pm, and closed between Christmas and New Year, however, during the Coronavirus pandemic, we are sorry, but we are unable to make this accessible.

Please note that on some occassions throughout the year access to the Reading Room will not be available due to staff shortages or other unforseen circumstances. We therefore strongly recommend making an appointment to use the Reading Room prior to making any accomodation or travel arrangements. We will do our best to accomodate all requests for access.

To Make an Appointment

To make an appointment to use the Reading Room please use our Curatorial Enquiry Form. When completing the form please provide details of the dates you would like to visit the Reading Room, along with any specific materials from the collections you would like to use. If you are not sure of specific items please give an outline of the research you are undertaking and we will provide assistance in identifying possible items of interest.
