A Time Traveller’s day out! Join us for a fun look through history and beyond!
On the woodland walk, watch medieval group, The Ferrers Household, demonstrating crafts. See the forge, the pole lathe, pewter casting, calligraphy, cooking and carpentry. Be adventurous and join in with timed battle drills.
Step back in time to the Roman encampment on Derwent View. Roman group, Legio V111 Augusta, will have engaging displays of Roman engineering and surveying; coin making, writing (you can have a coin stamped (£1) and your name written in Roman script on a piece of paper). Get up close and talk to a soldier to find out about their daily life. See the demonstration of military formations and equipment.
Music and nostalgia from the 20th century will feature all day on the bandstand. Children and adults alike can have a go with toys and games that are sure to bring back fond memories.
Entertaining us on the bandstand are:
10.45 Lady Lindy with music from the Old Time Music Hall and the 1920s.
12.15 Jayne Darling and Kev Mac with music from the 1940s – including a patriotic flag waving finale.
2.00 Paul Birch will perform songs you’ll remember from 1950s and 60s.
3.15 Abba Tribute (duet). Sing and dance along to your favourite Abba songs.
In the main Tramway Village, take a trip into the future (or is it?). Storm troopers and other 1970s futuristic characters have taken over the Village. See the Dr Who Exhibit in the Exhibition Hall. Look out for other surprises as you venture around the museum.
A fun day for all the family with a trip through the ages, which is sure to create some wonderful memories!
