For one day only on Saturday 29th September, visitors to Crich Tramway Village, home of the National Tramway Museum, will be given the opportunity to access parts of the museum collections not normally open to the public, and see some unique vehicles in operation.
“This is a very special event in our calendar”, said event organiser Mike Crabtree “During the course of the day we will be running as many trams in our operational fleet as possible including some special works cars.”
Throughout the day there will be fantastic opportunities to photograph tramcars that very rarely come out of the depot. As well as the tram action, there will be demonstrations of the traverser, moving trams between the depot and the vast exhibition hall, and behind-the-scenes tours of the workshop to see restoration work in progress. All this will be in addition to the usual family attractions.
Visitors wishing to travel to Crich by train can connect with a special free bus service from the nearest railway station at Whatstandwell on the Derby to Matlock branch line.
