Access All
We understand the importance of access for all, so we have taken measures to ensure all of our visitors enjoy a great day with us whatever their ability.
There are access ramps or lifts to all our visitor facilities and the Access Tram is a 1969 Berlin tram which has been adapted to lift and carry people in wheelchairs.
A "Wheelway" provides a smoother alternative to the cobbles for wheelchairs and buggies. Wheelchairs are available for hire from 10am until 4pm for a £10 deposit which is refunded when the wheelchair is returned. If you would like to book a wheelchair in advance, please contact us the day before you visit to check availability.
There are disabled toilets located at the Red Lion Pub, Assembly Rooms and at the Wakebridge Tram Stop.
We allow a free carer per person should you need assistance on your visit.
Please note that some of the above facilities are by arrangement. To avoid disappointment please call before your visit to check all facilities and guides are available on the day you wish to visit. 01773 854321
Don't forget that we gladly welcome four legged family members and we have recently been recommended as a dog friendly venue by the Dogs Trust. We are one of the few museums to welcome dogs free of charge and as our car park gets the sun all day we would much rather you brought your dog in with you.
All we ask is...
Please do keep them on a short lead and clear up any mess they make.
Dogs can go everywhere with you except:
- Any catering establishments
- Children's indoor play area
