London 60

8th July
London Tram

The London 60 event will commemorate 60 years since the last London Tram and also celebrate the wide selection of London trams in the collection.

Visitors will be able to ride on London trams which we have in the collection including MET 331 and LT 1622 which will be decorated in last tram paraphernalia.

Other trams on display will be LT1, 106 and the Tram Link KLV 058 which will be giving demonstration runs throughout the day

We have also lined up the following displays which will offer unique photo opportunities.

-Line-ups, cavalcades and photo displays will feature throughout the day using both operational and withdrawnLondoncars

-A re-enactment of the 'Last Tram' closure ceremony will take place, leaving trams that operated after 1952 to finish the day's service.

There will be a opportunity to buy surplus books from the Library in the Exhibition Hall.

Also, to get into the real 'London' spirit we have a special themed menu in Rita's Tearoom.

LUT 159 suffered a minor failure towards the end of todays launch. Unfortunately, as a result of this it is unlikely that the car will be operating in passenger service for the London 60 event. Although - weather permitting - the car should be on display subject to some early morning tinkering. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.
